#FirstWorldProblems warning here, but I have realized some very devastating news. For the first time in a long time, I will miss a Counting Crows tour. Yes, I know. It’s tragic. I’ve seen them perform live I don’t know how many times, and my mind is always blown. From the first time I saw them live at Jazz Fest in 2002, to the “secret show” at Shim Sham Club in 2003, to the most recent show in Lake Charles last summer, every show has been memorable and amazing.
But this year, the U.S. tour dates don’t start until August, at which point I’ll be 36 weeks pregnant. So traveling somewhere like Atlanta or Nashville is out of the question, unless I’m Ok taking my chances with going into labor at a concert on the road (I'm not.) There are no New Orleans shows (why???) but they have shows in Austin and Houston in early October. While this is my first time at the giving birth/caring for a tiny person rodeo, I’ve heard that road tripping with a 4-week old (assuming I deliver on my Sept. 6 due date) is a no-no.
So now I’m having to accept the fact that I’ll just have to miss this one. I think I’m still in denial, so I figured if I wrote about it, it might help. And while I’m at it, figured I’d share my Top 10 Counting Crows songs (from studio albums) and some of my favorite lyrics from those songs. It wasn't easy narrowing it down. And it may be different if you ask me on another day. But here goes.
(And Adam, if by some grace of God you are reading this, any help you can give a very pregnant fan to see a show this year would be greatly appreciated. I have a pretty big back yard and a pool if you're in the mood for a private gig…)
