Why you ask? Well...
In a fast-paced life, wine helps me slow down. I'm textbook Type-A personality, which means I often make life a lot more stressful than it needs to be. I'm convinced the inventor of wine had the same problem. There's nothing a warm bath and glass of wine can't fix ... or at least make me forget about for a while.
You can order an entire bottle (or two) with dinner without judgment. Have you ever tried ordering a bottle of Jack Daniels with your Filet? Probably not, and neither have I. But wine? Ordering by the bottle is socially acceptable, plus it's cheaper than paying by the glass. How can you not love that?
Wine glasses make you look sophisticated. Martini glasses do too, but I'd be rich if I had a nickel for every time I spilled one... There's something about drinking wine out of the glass (even if it is happy hour 2-for-1s) that makes me feel all grown up and stuff. "I'll have a glass of Pinot" sounds a lot cooler than "Michelob Ultra, please."
You can mix and match to complement your food. I must admit I'm a red girl, but certain occasions or meals call for a lighter white. And even within the red family, there are times I want Cabernet, others Pinot, or with certain dinners I crave a nice Malbec. Choosing which one is half the fun sometimes.
It's healthy, right? It's really just grapes, so that makes it fruit and fruit is good for you. And I read studies all the time about how drinking one glass a day has certain health benefits. Who am I to argue with hard-working scientists?
Wine makes bad days better. This kind of ties in with helping me slow down, as wine also helps to put things in perspective. Because I'm able to slow down, I'm able to think more clearly about my day and realize it wasn't so bad.
And most importantly...
Wine loves me back. Too much beer makes me bloated. Too many cocktails, and things can get ugly. But too much wine? No such thing.
